Oshima Zoo by Bus Guide

Use Oshima Park Stop

Oshima Bus lists Tokyo Metropolitan Oshima Park as a sightseeing spot served by the Oshima Park Line, Rainbow Line, and Osabaku Line. The stop is Oshima Park, and the official listing gives the walk from the stop as 0 minutes.

For most visitors, the practical plan is simple: check the current Oshima Park Line timetable, get off at Oshima Park, visit the zoo and nearby park areas, then return with a clear bus margin. The easy stop does not remove the need to confirm the return bus before you start walking deeper into the park.

Opening, Admission, And Scale

Tokyo’s environmental/nature-park page says Oshima Park Zoo is open from 9:00 to 17:00. It lists the park as open year-round and says admission is free. It also gives the park contact phone as 04992-2-9111.

Oshima Town’s official page describes the zoo as using lava from an eruption as part of its setting. The town page mentions a large monkey mountain with ring-tailed lemurs, about 65 species and 750 animals, and animals including Reeves’s muntjac and Indian peafowl.

What Makes It Worth The Stop

Oshima Bus describes Oshima Park as a 327 ha natural park on the east side of the island, with a camellia garden, botanical garden, and zoo. Its zoo summary mentions ring-tailed lemurs at monkey mountain, free-ranging peafowl, and conservation breeding efforts for zoo-stock species including Japanese wood pigeon, Aldabra giant tortoise, and Hawaiian goose.

That makes the zoo a good fit when you want an Oshima Park day that is not only flowers or scenery. It also pairs naturally with the camellia garden and botanical areas, especially if the weather is better for a park walk than for mountain or coast plans.

Animal-Viewing Manners

Do not build the trip around seeing one specific animal at one exact time. Animal visibility can change with weather, care routines, heat, events, or temporary exhibit adjustments. Follow staff signs, keep voices modest, do not feed animals, do not tap glass or barriers, and avoid flash or intrusive filming.

If you are visiting with children, decide the return-bus time before entering the zoo area. Free admission makes it easy to stay longer than planned, and missing a bus on an island day can affect ferry, flight, or dinner timing.

Fares, Passes, And Payment

Oshima Bus’s route-bus page was showing a timetable period from July 1 to September 30, 2026 when checked. It also listed a one-day pass at 2,500 yen for adults and 1,250 yen for children, and a two-day pass at 3,800 yen for adults and 1,900 yen for children, both for all routes. Check the current timetable before travel.

Oshima Bus’s FAQ says Suica, PASMO, and other IC cards are not accepted. Cash and PayPay are accepted, and on-bus change is available only for 50 to 500 yen coins and 1,000 yen notes. Carry small cash even if you plan to use PayPay.

Best Fit

  • Choose Oshima Park Zoo if you want an easy bus-stop animal and park visit.
  • Use Oshima Park stop as the official access reference.
  • Check opening status and weather before leaving the port or airport area.
  • Pair the zoo with the camellia garden or botanical park areas if time allows.
  • Set the return-bus time before entering the zoo area.
