Oshima Umi no Furusato Mura Bus and Shuttle Guide
Short answer: Plan Umi no Furusato Mura as a reservation-and-shuttle destination, not a casual bus stop. The public-transport shape is Oshima Park bus stop first, then a free shuttle or a long walk, with reservations, road conditions, ship timing, and weather all checked before travel.
Last checked: August 21, 2026. Facility notices, shuttle times, reservations, road closures, weather, ship ports, bus timetables, fares, pass sales, and payment rules can change. Always check official pages before travel.

What This Place Is
Tokyo Bureau of Environment says Umi no Furusato Mura was established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1981 and is now managed and run by its designated manager, Oshima-machi. It describes the site as having campgrounds, lodging facilities such as Central Lodge, and tennis courts.
That makes it different from a simple viewpoint. It works best when you are staying, camping, joining a planned nature stay, or using it as a serious base for the Goze River side of Oshima Park. Build the trip around official reservations and transport, not around last-minute improvisation.
Bus Stop First, Shuttle Second
Tokyo Bureau of Environment’s English page says visitors can take the bus for Oshima Park, get off at the last stop, and then take the free shuttle to Central Lodge in about 20 minutes. It also gives walking as an option, about 40 minutes from Oshima Park to Central Lodge.
The Oshima Park page also says a free shuttle is available for visitors staying at Umi no Furusato Mura. The facility’s own site is more operational: the shuttle is free but advance-reservation based, and it does not operate without a reservation. Capacity, baggage amount, road conditions, weather, ships, and route buses can affect timing or operation.
Current Shuttle Window
When checked, the official facility site showed shuttle information for July 1 to August 31, 2026 and September 1 to September 30, 2026. It showed port-linked service via Motomachi and, depending on the departure port, Okada routing. Treat those times as current-info facts, not evergreen rules.
The practical move is simple: after your ferry or flight plan is clear, check the facility shuttle page, Oshima Bus timetable, and your return port. If the shuttle, bus, and ship do not line up, change the plan before you arrive on the remote side of the island.
Reservation And Arrival Rules
The official facility site says bookings are accepted online, lodging reservations should be made by 13:00 on the day before use, and same-day or no-reservation use is not accepted. It lists check-in from 14:00 to 17:00 and checkout from 8:30 to 10:00.
It also says this is a campground-style facility, so cooking and bathing involve outdoor movement. Guests are asked to confirm facility locations before dark. The same official site warns that the area is far from settlements and sightseeing areas, with narrow, unlit, curving, steep roads nearby.
Money And Bus Payment
For the facility itself, the official site says payment is made at check-in and can be made by cash, listed cards, electronic money, and QR codes including PayPay. For route buses, check separately: Oshima Bus rules are different from the facility’s payment rules.
When checked, Oshima Bus showed a route-bus timetable period from July 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026. It listed a one-day pass at 2,500 yen for adults and 1,250 yen for children, and a two-day pass at 3,800 yen for adults and 1,900 yen for children, valid on all routes.
The Oshima Bus FAQ says Suica, PASMO, and other IC cards are not accepted on route buses. Cash and PayPay are accepted, and on-bus change is available only for 50 to 500 yen coins and 1,000 yen notes. Carry small cash even if your facility payment method is digital.
Best Fit
- Choose this if you want to stay near Oshima Park’s Goze River area with official shuttle planning.
- Do not assume the free shuttle runs without an advance reservation.
- Finish shopping before arrival because the facility is far from settlements and shops.
- Check ship port, route bus, shuttle, weather, road conditions, check-in time, and payment rules together.
- Keep Oshima Park as the public-transport anchor and Umi no Furusato Mura as the reserved destination.
