Move First, Then Decide

That logic should continue after the bus ride. A roadside or stop-adjacent waiting area is not the place to open the carrier, feed the pet in the passenger path, or repack the cage. Move to an appropriate waiting point first, then follow lodging, facility, or staff rules.

Choose A Waiting Spot That Does Not Create A New Problem

Oshima Tourism Association lists route buses and taxis as local transport options, while also directing travelers to Oshima Bus for bus details. A good waiting spot keeps you available for pickup or next movement without blocking bus doors, road edges, shelter space, shop entrances, terminal work, or pedestrian flow.

If your luggage is awkward, put bags down only where they are visible and compact. Keep the carrier away from wheels and swinging bags. If the weather is poor, prioritize a sheltered place that still respects local signs and staff instructions.

Make Calls In The Right Order

Contact lodging, pickup, or taxi only after you can say where you are. Give the port or stop name first, then the pet and luggage situation. If you are deciding between walking and waiting, ask for local advice instead of assuming the map route is comfortable with bags and a carrier.

Oshima Bus’s FAQ says Suica and PASMO are not accepted, and route-bus payment is cash or PayPay. Keep payment reachable in case your next move is another bus or a short taxi connection.
