Oshima Ferry Pet Rebooked Departure Payment-Ready Recovery Guide
Short answer: After rebooking an Oshima ferry with a pet, treat payment as part of the transfer plan. Prepare ferry-counter payment, pet-ticket questions, baggage-ticket questions, bus fare, taxi fare, small cash, and PayPay before you move. A good route can still fail if you reach the counter, bus, or taxi with the wrong payment method.
Last checked: August 25, 2026. Ferry operation status, port choice, ticket handling, pet-ticket handling, baggage-ticket handling, bus payment, taxi payment, fare amounts, PayPay handling, card acceptance, weather, and sea conditions can change. Always follow current Tokai Kisen, Oshima Bus, taxi-company, terminal, lodging, and local staff guidance.

Confirm The Port Before Spending The Buffer
Tokai Kisen’s operation-status page asks users to refresh before checking and says Oshima uses both Motomachi Port and Okada Port. Arrival and departure ports may differ, and the page lists 04992-2-5522 as the same-day Oshima port phone number. Payment readiness starts with the correct port, because a working card or cash plan at the wrong place is still useless.
Ask the simple question first: which port, which ship, which counter, and what is the last safe time? Only then decide whether you need cash, card, PayPay, pet-ticket money, baggage-ticket money, taxi fare, or bus fare.
Know What The Ferry Counter Can Do
Tokai Kisen’s boarding-flow page says tickets can be purchased at the boarding terminal on the day of departure. It also says prepayment vouchers must be exchanged for tickets at the counter, procedures should be completed early, and a reservation may be forfeited if procedures are not completed 15 minutes before departure.
Tokai Kisen’s English FAQ says credit cards are accepted at ticket counters at each port, but cannot be used on ships. That distinction matters after rebooking. If a pet-ticket, passenger-ticket, voucher, or baggage-ticket issue has to be handled at the counter, solve it before boarding time instead of assuming a shipboard payment fix exists.
Prepare For Pet And Baggage Extras
Tokai Kisen’s pet page says pets must be in a cage or basket no more than 45cm per side, with the whole body inside and the face and body not visible. The page also lists pet-ticket fares and says the listed pet-ticket charges include consumption tax. The carry-on baggage common page says charged baggage requires a baggage ticket before boarding, and a fee may be requested at arrival if charged baggage has no ticket attached.
In practical terms, payment readiness is not only the main passenger fare. It includes the pet, any baggage-ticket question, and enough time to let staff process the correct document. Keep reservation number, name, destination, pet size, and bag description ready.
Do Not Count On IC Cards For Oshima Bus
Oshima Bus’s FAQ says Suica, PASMO, and other IC cards are not accepted. It says cash or PayPay is accepted, and change is limited to 50-500 yen coins and 1,000 yen notes. The same FAQ says small pets may be brought only if inside a cage.
If bus is part of the recovery, make a bus payment pocket before moving: small cash, PayPay ready with battery and signal, and no reliance on transit IC cards. If you have large luggage, confirm the route-bus page and staff or driver guidance before treating the bus as the answer.
Taxi Payment Still Needs A Phone Check
Oshima Tourism Association says taxis do not cruise, night service is very limited, most taxis wait at ports or the airport, and travelers should inquire by phone. Izu Oshima Navi also lists taxi companies and directs travelers to phone inquiries. When you call, include payment in the same short script as pickup point, destination port, pet carrier, luggage, and time.
Do not wait until arrival to discover a payment mismatch. Ask what payment is accepted, whether exact cash is helpful, and whether the driver can still protect the ferry counter buffer.
Payment-Ready Recovery Checklist
- Refresh Tokai Kisen status and confirm Motomachi Port or Okada Port.
- Confirm the rebooked departure time and counter deadline.
- Prepare card or other accepted payment for the ferry counter, not for shipboard use.
- Ask whether passenger ticket, pet ticket, voucher, or baggage ticket handling remains.
- Set aside Oshima Bus cash or PayPay; do not rely on Suica, PASMO, or other IC cards.
- Keep small cash because bus change is limited.
- Ask taxi payment method by phone before accepting a pickup plan.
- Keep phone battery, reservation details, pet details, and bag details ready at the counter.
